Competition

Local competitors exist.
A real destination doesn't.

Competitor Segment overlap Distance / threat Why it matters
S'pace Lontzen
Lontzen
+Explora advantage
Social Gaming
5 min
High threat
Direct social-gaming rival next door. 14 bowling lanes, laser game, Pixel Floor, Escape Arena, karaoke & arcades.
Explora advantage

Stronger multilingual and German-speaking positioning with a more premium environment and customer experience, particularly attractive for visitors from Aachen and surrounding areas. Through golf simulators, escape rooms, padel and wellness, Explora targets a broader, more affluent audience with higher expectations in quality, atmosphere and overall experience.

Jungle Park Lontzen
Lontzen
+Explora advantage
Kids Center
5 min
High threat
Broad family/kids destination almost next door. Interactive arenas, trampolines, slides, mini-golf, arcades.
Explora advantage

At traditional indoor parks parents mostly supervise, consume little and wait. At Explora, weekends are shared family experiences: brunch together, then time in the Kids Club; on weekdays children are professionally supervised while mom hits the gym and dad surfs or plays padel. Explora also blends fun with learning: immersive space-themed experiences, interactive planet workshops and a kids driving track (with local police) where children earn their first "licence" with their school class.

Wel Padel
Welkenraedt
+Explora advantage
Padel
15 min
High threat
Most direct padel rival. 6 covered indoor courts plus an on-site restaurant in the same catchment.
Explora advantage

In competitive markets, differentiation comes through price or quality. The middle dies long-term. Explora is built on premium experiences, strong branding and operational excellence, reinforced by an exclusive adidas partnership for padel fields and a trainer academy within a 100 km radius. Just 15 minutes from Aachen, where padel is rapidly emerging, Explora's German- and French-speaking positioning is a clear edge over French-speaking operators like We Padel or Padel du Midi.

KTC Eupen
Eupen
+Explora advantage
Padel
5 min
High threat
Established club (est. 1932). 3 outdoor courts, 3 indoor courts under construction, loyal local members.
Explora advantage

Unlike KTC, a traditional non-profit club focused on memberships and affordability, Explora Padel offers a flexible, accessible "play-on-demand" experience. With a central location near the highway, premium infrastructure and a social atmosphere, Explora targets both casual lifestyle players and more competitive players seeking high-quality facilities and coaching.

RheinRiff
Düsseldorf
+Explora advantage
Surf
~75 min
Low threat / benchmark
9,000 m² urban beach hall: 9 m citywave, 4 indoor beach-volleyball courts, surfskate track, beach club bar, conference centre. Outside 60 min but a key benchmark concept for the surf / social-leisure category.
Explora advantage

Explora's surf wave is embedded in a full recreation ecosystem (padel, kids, bowling, wellness, gastronomy) so both surfers and non-surfers (partners, kids, older adults) can enjoy a shared "mini-holiday" visit instead of just a 45-minute surf slot. In contrast to single-focus surf venues like RheinRiff, this mixed-use, family-friendly setting broadens the addressable market, increases dwell time and supports higher, more diversified revenue per visit.
